FIFA U-17 W/Cup: Peterside, Eguma tip Eaglets for trophy

Orji Okwonkwo #20 of Nigeria celebrates his team's second goal with team mates
Port Harcourt – Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Rivers in the last general elections, Dr Dakuku Peterside, has tipped the Golden Eaglets to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.
Peterside said in Port Harcourt on Friday that the Eaglets’ victory over Mexico in the semi-final match was a not an easy one.
NAN reports that the Eaglets came from behind to beat Mexico 4-2 in the match.
“ I praise the team and their handlers for taking each game as they come and for the matured and disciplined character they have displayed,“ Peterside said.
According to him, the Golden Eaglets have shown good character and discipline in their outings and this will give them the trophy.
“Discipline, vision and pursuit of excellence is the key if any nation wants to prosper,“ he said.
Similarly, Dolphins of Port Harcourt Manager, Stanley Eguma, commended the Eaglets for beating Mexico in the semi-final of the FIFA U-17 tournament.
“ Coach Amuneke and his players have shown that they are determined and have character to go places.
“ Though, the aim of the tournament is to raise young players for the future, I believe that having worked hard to get to the final, we should pray for the team to win it,“ he said.
Eguma said the Eaglets had proved that Nigeria was a name to be reckoned with in world cadet football championships.
He urged them to work extra hard to beat their fellow African finalist, Mali because it will not be an easy game.(NAN)
